Wendy Perkins, B.A., CAAP
Executive Director

Wendy worked in the advertising industry after graduating from the University of Alberta with a B.A. in English.  As a volunteer with community service organizations, and in start-up community ventures, she has held board positions in numerous social service and arts organizations, as well as a three year term in a staff position in community relations and special events with the United Way of Oakville.

Wendy’s  background in fundraising with the United Way and with the Canadian Olympic Foundation led to her former position of Community Action Co-ordinator for the Salvation Army Oakville and  Fundraising Director with The Salvation Army Lighthouse.

With two grown daughters, Wendy is active in the community.  She is also the past Co-chair for the Festival of Classics, an Oakville Shakespearian tradition. An active paddler, she has competed world-wide and is a member of the Burloak Canoe Club and founder of the new Wai Nui O Kanakā Outrigger Canoe Club.

Her experience with the Salvation Army drove Wendy to become even more involved in conceiving creative solutions for people in dire straights in our community. A volunteer for eighteen months during the start-up of Home Suite Hope, Wendy is an outspoken and passionate advocate calling for service in Halton for all the people of Halton. Now Executive Director of HSH, Wendy works to ignite and sustain housing solutions that meet the needs of people who, all-too-often in our community, are left with no dignified choices for survival.
