Home Suite Hope’s purpose is to create affordable housing and a network of community support for people who are homeless or in a housing crisis. HSH has adopted a two-pronged strategy to meet these goals for our residents:
- Provide adequate shelter
- Develop relevant life and employment skills
Our long term goals include developing an imaginative, responsive and visionary funding plan that includes the ability to sustain the short and long-term operating future of Home Suite Hope. This would encompass sufficient resources to continue Home Suite Hope services over time, with ongoing revenues sufficient to operate and expand as necessary to maintain effective services. This funding will augment on-going rental income from residents.
As well, our goal is to obtain start-up capital to fund two more Home Suite Hope residences in three years, which will allow us to bring dignified housing options to more residents in desperate need of affordable housing in Halton.
Our Objectives
- To use existing housing stock in a variety of ownership and organizational formats to provide sustainable, low-cost housing in a shared living environment for people who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless.
- To provide social, financial, emotional and spiritual support for residents to assist their integration into the wider community and participation in community life.
- To provide opportunities for skills training for the personal growth and development of residents.
- To provide a positive and dignified living environment that builds a sense of community and counters the effects of urban loneliness.
- To foster a spirit of social entrepreneurism by encouraging the replication of this homelessness intervention program to other groups and other municipalities.
