The summer may be inching toward August but before you know it autumn will be here – and that signals the arrival of Home Suite Hope’s signature fundraiser, Empty Bowls.
Many already know of this popular event, but if you haven’t heard, it replicates a soup kitchen to raise funds in support of single parents facing homelessness in our community.
A variety of local restaurateurs create their finest heartwarming soups which these generous chefs are happy to serve up to Empty Bowls attendees.
Those attending can sample as many soups as they like and get the added bonus of breads and desserts to go with the main fare.
They can also either use or take home a handcrafted ceramic bowl as a souvenir of their culinary adventure.
So while we’re inching toward August, it’s that time of year that we are seeking to solidify our plans for the event taking place November 8, 2026 at Appleby College, our generous venue host.
For those sponsors and supporters who have already reached out to us, thank you.
For others, we are still hoping that you will be interested and that we will connect.
Home Suite Hope unites a network of vital support services for single parents and their children; encouraging and supporting them as they journey from poverty to stability.
Poverty, and the hopelessness it fosters, is often passed on from one generation to the next. Children growing up in poverty learn to believe education and secure employment are beyond their reach. Without empowerment, they may not have the tools and support to think beyond their microcosm of despair.
Together, we are transforming the patterns of poverty to a legacy of empowered prosperity. One family at a time.
Our Mission: Unite a network of vital support services for single parents and their children; encouraging and supporting them as they journey from poverty to stability.
Our Vision: Lives permanently changed for the better.
Home Suite Hope is a wraparound service that helps homeless or precariously housed single parent families across Halton move to self-sufficiency. Through a four-year program that provides a housing subsidy, a two-year college diploma, intensive case management, life skills training, mentorship, professional development and employment supports, single parents are given the opportunity to build their skills and break the ties of generational poverty once and for all.
And while that is our signature Homeward Bound Halton program, we also offer a variety of other programs tailored to different than the four-year time frame and for specific challenges such as housing, employment, stabilizing.
In its 18th year, Empty Bowls brings the community back together once again at Appleby College to visit the various soup vendors by handing the chef their uniquely-crafted bowl to fill. This tangibly represents the soup kitchen- experience many faced historically and the food insecurity many homeless families currently face through poverty and life challenges. This is Home Suite Hope’s signature fundraising event with all proceeds going to our wraparound supports.
Empty Bowls General Admission tickets come with no ceramic bowl, but tickets can be upgraded to include the bowl. There is also a To-Go Soup Kit Pick-up Option available. All ticket purchases are eligible for a $50 tax receipt.
There are also a variety of Empty Bowls sponsorships available for those who’d like to get involved in supporting us host this fundraiser.
