We couldn't do it without you!
Home Suite Hope’s (HSH) annual Empty Bowls event is a community favourite - and it's this Sunday!
It’s an event that is near to HSH too as the proceeds allow us to continue serving single parents and their children as they journey from poverty to stability.
HSH offers several programs, but its mainstay is Homeward Bound Halton. It’s a four-year program that sees single parents facing homelessness or precarious housing stabilized in housing and then supported with wrap-around services as they complete a two-year post-secondary education and then secure stable employment. That allows them to maintain stable housing and changes the trajectory of their families’ lives.
These single parents’ hard work also serves as a role model for their children and provides a forum for the family to stave off generational poverty. That’s what HSH does.
Proceeds from Empty Bowls helps HSH provide the services required to support it. Sponsorships and support from the community enable HSH to present Empty Bowls.
With the soup kitchen-styled event set to take place this Sunday, Oct. 15, we would like to extend thanks to those who purchased tickets and those who sponsored and supported our event.
Empty Bowls is presented by Taylor Inc., a long-time supporter of Empty Bowls. Thank you!
In its 15th year, Home Suite Hope's (HSH) Empty Bowls returns for 2023 – and in the at-home delivery format.
That couldn’t take place without the many volunteers who help pack the soup kits and Food for Life offering its Burlington headquarters as the staging venue. It also requires the many who volunteer to deliver the kits to ticket purchasers.
Thank you!
And for ticket purchasers, many of them ‘return customers,’ it’s exciting to not only support HSH, but to try the soups prepared by the local restauranteurs who sponsor Empty Bowls.
This year’s soups include:
Pear & Parsnip Soup
– by Hearthstone by the Lake
Roasted Corn and Bacon Bisque Soup
– by the Oakville Golf Club
Lentil Soup
– by Montfort Mediterranean Cuisine Oakville
Chicken Thai Soup
– by Longo’s Markets
Italian Red Lentil Vegetable Soup
– for Food for Life by NextDoor Kitchen
Thank you to each restaurant for your delicious contribution and support.
Soup wouldn’t be the same without bread for dipping and HSH is indebted to COBS Bread Lakeshore for its long-time contribution to the Empty Bowls event.
Helping sweeten the event is our dessert sponsor, Nothing Bundt Cakes Burlington. Thank you!
Making Empty Bowls soup kits arrive on the doorstep takes others, too, and HSH extends its appreciation to Fiera Capital Foundation for stepping up as this year’s Silver Sponsor and Celernus as the Bronze Sponsor.
One of the unique aspects of Empty Bowls is that ticket purchasers also receive a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted bowl. This important aspect of the event wouldn’t be possible without the support of Oakville’s Crack Pot Studios and the many individuals and groups who purchase, paint and donate back their beautiful creations! Thank you!
A special nod, too, to La Rose Bakery in Milton for its gift basket donation.
Over the years, Empty Bowls has grown to become a gathering that the community knows and loves. This year, the delivery-at-home format takes place Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., HSH volunteers will deliver soup kits to ticket purchasers at their home and while participants share the great tastes Halton has to offer, they can also feel heartened that they are supporting Home Suite Hope make a great change in our communities.
Empty Bowls truly is a gathering of people, helping make the event a success and in turn helping change the trajectory of single-parent families from poverty to stability.
Thank you all!
