FORMER HSH TREASURER RECEIVES QUEEN’S

PLATINUM JUBILEE AWARD

Home Suite Hope recently bid farewell to long-time Board member and Treasurer Lisa Garland, who will continue her support but, having reached the end of her tenure, stepped away from official duties at HSH in June.

We caught up with Lisa again in July however after HSH nominated her successfully as a Community Hero who was recognized with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award.

Lisa was recognized at a July 21 ceremony officiated by Burlington MP Karina Gould and Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

“That night was a special night for me. It was an both an honour and a surprise to be nominated by HSH for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award. I am not sure I fit into the category that some other recipients did, but I was truly impressed with all the volunteers and the number of hours that they spend volunteering. Thank you, Krystal and Katelyn, for spending your personal time to come to the event it meant a lot to have you both there. Thank you again for thinking of me for the award! “ said Lisa.

Congratulations, Lisa!
