HSH partners with HWP in Haven to Home

The Ontario provincial government is committing $876,983 over the next three years to support a new program partnership between Halton Women’s Place (HSP) and Home Suite Hope (HSH), in their efforts to combat gender-based violence.

The funding will be directed to the new Haven to Home program, which over a one-year time frame will assist up to 33 women and their children as they transition from the shelter into stable housing. Through rent supplements, case management, and wraparound supports, this program will help create real, sustainable pathways forward.

“Haven to Home is about more than housing — it’s about building a foundation of stability, dignity, and hope for women and children who have experienced domestic violence. It helps survivors move from crisis to confidence by creating real pathways toward social and economic independence. We’re deeply grateful to the Province and our partners at Home Suite Hope for making this transformative program possible,” said Laurie Hepburn, Executive Director, Halton Women’s Place.

“We are so grateful to MCCSS for providing us with this opportunity to deepen our collaborative efforts with Halton Women's Place, facilitating the transition of domestic violence survivors from the haven of respite that HWP offers to their own homes.  Helping these families move forward is essential to their wellbeing and long-term success,”  noted Sara Cumming, Executive Director, Home Suite Hope.

According to Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity Charmaine Williams, the initiative aims to tackle the root causes of violence and help break the cycle of abuse.

Burlington MPP Natalie Pierre also emphasized the important role organizations like Halton Women’s Place play in addressing gender-based violence in the community.

This investment is part of the Ontario government’s broader commitment, which includes $1.4 billion over four years to prevent gender-based violence, along with a $162 million partnership with the federal government to implement the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.
