HSH congratulates FCT scholarship recipient

Congratulations to Aaliyah Gordon, the 2022 winner of FCT’s William G. Davis Scholarship award.

Aaliyah was honoured at a September 6 ceremony hosted by FCT and attended by HSH Interim Program Manager Nikkian Hanson and Director of Development Krystal Valencia. On-hand was Aaliyah's family.

“I’d like to thank my family, of course. FCT, Home Suite Hope and the Selection Committee who selected me. Thank you so much,” said Aaliyah, who is studying at Wilfrid Laurier University towards her dream career as a neuropsychologist.

According to FCT, which presented the scholarship in collaboration with HSH, "Aaliyah is an extraordinary young woman with a love of science and a passion to care for others. She and her mother run a not-for-profit organization called No One Goes Hungry (@hungerfreehalton), which provides free meals throughout the Halton region using recovered food."

FCT noted the scholarship will help support Aaliyah as she starts at Wilfrid Laurier University this fall on her journey towards changing the world, one brain at a time.

Touching base with last year's scholarship recipient

FCT also caught up with last year's winner Kyjuana Marksman, who worked with FCT’s Residential Lending Solutions team over the summer.

"The scholarship let me finish my first year at Western University without any debt. I got to worry less about where the money would come from and keep my head focused on completing my program to the best of my ability," said Kyjuana.
